The Sound Behind the Image

For all of the motion picture sound fanatics out there... there's a program you absolutely can not miss.
On Thursday, May 17, at 8 p.m., the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills will be hosting a fascinating program titled “The Sound Behind the Image.”
Hosted by Oscar winning sound designer Ben Burtt and Oscar nominated sound mixer Kevin O’Connell, the evening will celebrate the art of sound in action-adventure films, featuring clips from films ranging from “Don Juan” (1926) to “Lawrence of Arabia” (1962), and culminate in a tribute to the groundbreaking sound design of “Star Wars” (1977). Oscar winning sound editor Richard Anderson will also be on hand.
Tickets to “The Sound Behind the Image” are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students. Tickets may be purchased in advance, or at the door depending on availability.
