Hollywood Lost and Found The Wheel Inn Cabazon, California |

Right next door to the life-size dinosaurs off the I-10 in Cabazon, California - and signified by the giant sign with the word "EAT" - is The Wheel Inn, a little truck stop that has been open 24/7 since 1964. The Wheel Inn is one of those suspicious locations that you see when you are on your way to somewhere else. Do I eat there? Do I go for the more predictable-if-not-gross Denny's next door? Pee Wee Herman (Paul Reubens) was dropped off here by the mysterious truck driver Large Marge in "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" (1985). Inside the dining-room there was a shrine set up to Large Marge, and Pee Wee met some of the locals and regular truck drivers. |

In the Tears for Fears video, "Everybody Wants to Rule The World," Curt Smith stopped at the Wheel Inn to use the phone booth. The video is a glimpse of what the area was like in 80s before it was built up with chain restaurants. Skip Denny's, skip Burger King - treat your self to a meal at the Wheel Inn. The diner serves marvelous food - breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, and amazing pies and pastries made fresh daily. The authors of this site have made the trip for nothing else than a tuna melt and peach cobbler. Or, to make your Pee Wee adventure complete, you could have a tuna platter and milk shake - just make sure you don't lose your wallet. |
